It is inevitable that people nowaday eat more and more fast food that cause many diseases. There are many way to decrease the amount of fast food consumer. For me, governments should tax this kind of food a higher excise.
Personally, I thinks it is really reasonable to impose tax on fast food so as to deter companies that produce and sell this junk food to other people. It can limit the amount of fast food sold out in the market. It means that when the products of those companies are taxed, they must set higher prices for their products, so consumers have to pay a higher cost to buy fast food. It is impossible to happen since they don’t want to waste money absurdly. Let’s try putting yourself in that situation, you never want to buy that food with a higher cost than usual no matter how you like to eat them. In short, in my view, this is the most effective method to curb the comsumption of fast food.
Apart from the practical concerns expressed above, I also agree that the tax collected should be donated to health protection funds and found organizations which propagate and disseminate knowledge about fast food and its harm to everyone. Particular, those organisations take responsibility for learn knowledge about this kind of food and disseminate it to people through various mass medias such as television, radio or newspaper, and it aim to make people aware of unpredictable harm of this junk food and prevent it. For example, some fast food companies even print the warning about the harm on package of products to impact strongly on psychology of consumers and make them consider when they making a purchase.
To conclude, I think that it is completely required of governments to levy a tariff on fastfood if they want to improve peoples’ health because it impact on both producers and consumers. However the most important thing is awareness of consumer. But for their consciousness, high tax makes no sense.
