Overall, as is represented by the table use of the car had the highest position whereas only few preferred taxi in 1985. Surprisingly, in 2000 also car maintained its first rank where the bicycle was the least liked mode of travel.
From the given table, it is clear that there was significant rise in distance travelled by car from 3199 to 4806 miles. Similarly, miles covered by long distance bus increased by more than double from 54 to 124 miles. Likewise, the sharp increment was noticed in both modes of travel train and taxi. The former increased from 289 to 366 whereas the later boosted by more than triple from 13 to 42 miles. In addition, noticeable growth was observed in other modes of travel.
However, the use of bicycle remarkably decreased from 51 to 41 miles. Likewise, average distance covered by walking strongly declined from 255 and reached 237 miles. Furthermore, the use of local bus shrunk by more than double from 429 and reached 274 in 2000.
