The table demonstrates the number of releases of different movie genres in the UK in 2012 as well as their percentages of all releases and revenue from ticket sales. In general, drama and documentary were produced the most with comedy having the highest income.

Regarding the number of movies released in 2012, drama and documentary shared the same figure of 35 movies, followed by comedy which was lower, with 26 movies. The first two genres accounted for 23.6% of all releases, however, drama's income from sales was much higher than documentary's revenue, at 8.3% and 2.9% respectively. Comedy witnessed its movies making up 17.6% of all releases and nearly 50% of income.

Horror had 14 movies released in 2012, this figure for thriller was slightly lower, at 13. Their percentages of all releases shared the same pattern, at 9.5% and 8.8% respectively. At 20.2%, horror was the second-highest in income from ticket sales. The number of releases in other genres was insignificant, mostly below 10 movies in 2012.
