The table below gives information on UK acid rain emissions, measured in millions of tonnes, from
four different sectors between 1990 and 2007.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below. Make
comparisons where relevant.
The line graph shows the amount of acid rain emissions in the UK from four different sectors during the period from 1990 to 2007.
It is clear that the total amount of UK acid rain emissions dropped significantly over the 1990-2007 period. Electricity, Gas and Water supply witnessed the most considerable decrease.
Looking further at the information we can see that Electricity, Gas and Water contributed the most acid rain emissions in 1990, with approximately 3.3 million tonnes of acid rains emitted. However this number plummeted to just half of million tonnes 17 years latter. The supplies from both Domestic and Other industries saw a drop as well. In 1991 Domestic had more than 0.5 million tonnes of acid rain emissions while Other industries had over 2 million. However those figures gradually fell to roughly 0.2 million and 1.2 million tonnes, respectively.
Unlike the other three supplies, Transport and Communication supply sector fluctuated from 1990 to 2007. It started at 0.7 million tonnes in 1990, then reached its peak at exactly 1 million tonnes in 2005 before went back to 0.7 million again 2 years latter.
