The table compares different funds for international students in the United States in the years 2003/04 and 2013/14. Overall, personal and family funding was more popular than any other sources during the period. Also, the most noticeable change in percentage from 2003 to 2013 went for the current employer category.
In the 2003-2004 term, personal and family and US college or university were the largest sources, accounting for 67% and 23%, respectively. After 10 years, these percentages decreased by 2% each, while the number of students using these funds saw an upward trend. To be more specific, the figure for personal and family funds rose from 385543 students in 2003 to 574129 students in 2013, and the figure for US college or university climbed to 171218 students.
In 2003, from around 10000 to 30000 students received funds from foreign governments or universities, current employers, or other sources. In 2013, the number of students funded by foreign governments or universities increased dramatically, which made up 383% and 390% change in 10 years, correspondingly. In contrast, the quantity of students funded by other sources dropped by approximately 4000 at the end of the period.
