Overall, the number of students in total was seen with a sharp increase over the given years. Also, an upward trend was witnessed in all types of funding, except for other sources
In 2003/04, out of total 572 509 overseas students, 67% of them were supported by themselves or their families with 385 543 students. Funding from US college or university was received by 134 015 stusents which comprised only 23% of total. Foreign government or university, current employer and other sources supported no more than 30 000 students each, which were not over 5% of the total
In 2013/14, personal and family still remained as the main financial source with 574 129 students, accounting for 65% of total 886 052 students. Remarkably, while there was a highest change of 390% in students supported by current employer, only -14% was seen in the figure of other sources. With exceptions of Foreign Government or university and current employer, the remaing funing sources were witnessed with 2-4% declines in their proportions of total
