The table below shows the weight of people in a particular country from 1999 to 2009.
The table depicts the proportion of the weight of men and women in one nation in three years: 1999, 2004 and 2009.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that most men and women maintained a healthy lifestyle and were at a normal weight. From 1999 to 2009, while the numbers of underweight men and women increased slightly, the figure for overweight people witnessed an opposite trend, with the number of women growing marginally and that of men decreasing significantly.
In 1999, 49% of women were normal-weight, followed by the proportion of underweight women, at 27%. In the case of male weight, a quite similar phenomenon was observed. However, the units were smaller, with 41% at a normal weight and 22% underweight. Only a minority of women were overweight, at 18% of them, less than nearly three times the number of normal-weight women. Conversely, 30% of men were overweight, 9% more than the one in the underweight section.
The proportion of skinny women rose gently by 2% in each category, to 29% in 2004. Nevertheless, in 2009, the proportion of thin women will decline marginally to 28%. On the contrary, the number of underweight men experienced a 2% fall trend, then recovered and increased by 3% in 2009. Similar to the underweight trend, the overweight females and males accounted for a smaller proportion, with 21% and 23%, respectively, in 2004, and both figures then decreased to 19% each in 2009. It can be seen that the figures for normal-weight women and men underwent a growth trend, with women rising slightly by 2% to 51%, while men saw a dramatic rise, from 41% in 2004 to 48% in 2004, before both falling to 47% each in 2009.
