The table elucidates the changes of global market shares of notebook computer companies for two consecutive years, 2006 and 2007.
In both years it is discernible that, hp was distinctively the leader of Notebook computer markets, selling 31% in 2006, slightly more (34%) in 2007. This is the greater share than its closest two competitors, dell and Acer added together. Dell increased its market share at 20.02% from 16.6% in two years. In contrast, Acer saw its market share declined at 10.7% in 2007 from 11.6% in 2007. The other listed companies had a smaller portion of market share of the total. Toshiba grew its share from 2006 to 2007, which were 6.2% to 7.3% respectively, whereas Toshiba’s closest competitor felt at 6.2% in 2007 from 6.6% in 2006. Similarly, Fujitsu-Siemens lost halve of its market share (2.3%) in 2007 from 4.8% in 2006.
The other notebook manufactures accounted for 22.8% of the market share in 2006- more than all the companies mentioned except HP. However, in 2007 the companies only made 19.3% of notebook computer sales-less then both hp and dell.
