The table illustrates the number of forest area in six different continents including Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America in the 15 - years period.

Generally, while Europe constantly ranked top from 1990 to 2005, Oceania was the continent that has the lowest forested land compared to the other parts of the world. Besides, the amount of land seems to decline slightly over the period shown except for Asia and Europe.

In 1990, nearly 1000 million of hectares forest area were recorded in Europe, followed by 946 million of hectares in South America and 749 million of hectares in Africa. According to the tables, after 15 years there was a minimal change in terms of forested land in all continents. Whereas Europe and Asia were the only two parts experienced a rise in terms of forested land, which were 10 million of hectares for the former and 8 million of hectares for the later, the other continents decreased marginally for Africa and Oceania, which were about 3 million of hectares for both, and significantly for Africa and South America, which decreased approximately 58 and 64 million of hectares respectively.
