The table illustrates the number of hectares of forested land in 6 continents of the world
Overall, Europe had the largest land constituted in 2005, while the number of Oceania's forested land registered the lowest number in 2000. Moreover, Europe was also recorded nearly double figures compared to Asia. A lower number of forested land compared to Europe was seen to make by South America.
It is clear that throughout the period from 1990 to 2005, Africa witnessed a remarkable decline, from 749 in 1990 to 691in 2005. By contrast, the figure for Europe skyrocketed from 989 hectares in 1990 to 1001 hectares in 2005. In addition, Oceania had a steady decrease and reached a bottom of 197 hectares in 2005.
On the other hand, there was a fluctuation in the number of Asia’s land and it finally rose to 584 hectares by 2005. In contrast, there was a gradual decline to 705 hectares by 2005 in North America. South America had suffered a significant drop, from 946 by 1990 to just 882 by 2005.
