The table shows how many students studying foreign language in somecountry

The table shows how many students studying foreign languages between 2000 and 2005.

Overall, Spanish was the most popular second language, followed by German. Another evident tendency was that the number of students learning Spanish increased throughout the whole period, while the figures for German and French fell. Russian and Japanese were the two least prevalent language subjects.

More specifically, there were 1811 and 896 students enrolled German and French learning in 2000. However, fewer and fewer students choose these two languages as the years went by, dropping to 1121 and 687 by 2005. In contrast, the number of those who studying Spanish increased, rising from 1889 to 2454 and ranked first over the entire period.

The trend for Russan and Japanese learning was similar, the number of which fluctuated. The lower number was recorded in studying Russan, at only 20 in 2000, which was 12 less than that for Japanese. From this point onward, the proportion of students enrolling these two courses changed slightly until 2005(26 for Russan and 35 Japanese).
