The table shows the international tourist arrivals in the top eight countries in 2009 and 2010 and the changes in percentage.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The table compares the number of overseas tourists from 9 countries who reached different destinations around the world during the period from 2009 to 2010.
It can be clearly seen that while the number of visitors to most of the countries mentioned experienced a significant increase, Hong Kong, on the other hand, recorded a sharp decline. Moreover, although France had a period of stability, it remained the most popular country with holidaymakers.
It is obvious that despite a very low number of tourists (11 million), Germany had the fastest growth in the figure for visitors, increasing by 109% to reach a high of 23 million in 2010. China ranked second with 34 million foreign tourists in 2010, which rose by 55% compared to 33% of international travelers arriving in Turkey. Other countries including the US, Spain, UK, and Italy saw a slightly slower change, ranging from 1.5% to 3.6%.
By contrast, Hong Kong witnessed a negative trend in the number of foreign tourists when its figure dropped by -11%, falling from 10 million to 9 million a year later. France, however, had a similar number of tourists (76 million) compared to the previous year and remained the best holiday attraction.
