Essay topics:

The table shows the number of international tourist arrivals (in thousands) in various countries in 2009 and 2010, together with the percentage change in these numbers.

The table compares the number and the percentage change of international visitors who travelled to nine different countries over a period from 2009 to 2010.

In general, most of the nations experienced an increase in the tourist arrivals after a year, except for Hong Kong. Germany had the largest change in overseas tourists among the given countries.

France ranked first in this term and the figure was unchanged at 76 thousand in both years. There were 66,000 international travellers who came to the USA in 2009, and the number increased 1,5% a year later. Both Spain and the United Kingdom received 55,000 sightseers in 2009, then raised slightly to 56,000 and 57,000 tourists respectively. Similarly, there was also a small increase in the figure for Italy which rose 2,3% compared to the previous year (44,000 visitors).

Despite having a much lower number of international tourists in 2009, Turkey and China became more attractive which increased by 33% and 55% respectively. Starting with 10,000 tourist arrivals, Germany’s figure climbed to 24,000 travellers, having the highest percentage change. In contrast, Hong Kong witnessed a slight decrease by 11%.
