The table shows the proportions of pupils attending four secondary school types between 2000 and 2009.
The table represents the changes of a number of students have attended four different schools (specialist, grammar voluntary- controlled and community schools) in a percentage from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, the proportion of pupils attending specialist, grammar and voluntary-controlled school declined, whereas the community schools experienced the growth in the percentage of students during the projected periods.
In terms of specialist, grammar and voluntary-controlled schools had experienced a decline with the students’ attending rates over the projected periods. Among all, the drastic plummet was recorded for voluntary-controlled schools which attendance rates dropped from 52% to 20% from 2000 to 2009. While grammar schools and specialist schools had declined from 24% and 12% respectively to 10% each in the same year.
In contrast to those, in terms of community college, which attendance rate was the lowest of 12% in 2000 but this rate increased drastically to reach at 32% in 2005 and by 2009, it recorded the highest attending rate of 58%.
