The table compares 7 leading mobile phone manufactures in term of their shares of the global market in 2005 and 2006.

Overall, Nokia had the largest market share in both 2005 and 2006. While the percentage of most of companies fell between 2005 and 2006, that of Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson increased.

Nokia was the leader in the global mobile phone market in 2005 and 2006. While the share of this brand stood at 32.5% in 2005, it rose by 2.5% to 35% in 2006. Concerning market shares of Motorola and Sony Ericsson, while the former rose significantly from 17.7% in 2005 to 21.1% in 2006, there only was a slight increase by 1.1% from 6.3% in 2005 to 7.4% in 2006 in share of the latter.

In contrast, Samsung, LG, BenQ Mobile and others witnessed a downward trend in their market share between 2005 and 2006. While the share of Samsung and LG fell slightly by 0.9% and 0.4% respectively, BenQ Mobile’s market share dropped by over a half from 4.9% in 2005 to 2.4% in 2006. The ratio of people using the others cell phone brand also fell significantly from 19.2% in 2005 to 16.2% in 2006.
