The table shows the sales records for banana and coffee in five European countries and makes sakes comparisons between year 1999 and 2004.
In the year 2004, the sales of coffee increased almost 10 times in the UK from 1.5 million euros in 1999 to 20 million euros in 2004.Also the coffee sales in Switzerland during 2004(6 million euros) was twice that of in 1999 (3 million Euros). Whereas there were only slight increases in coffee sales over the five years in the other three European countries.
Comparatively the total sales for Fairtrade Bananas has been greater overall in both 1999 and 2004 than the toal coffee sales across all countries.
The Banana sales during 2004 increased six times in Switzerland (15-47 million euros) as compared to 1999, whereas increased only a bit for UK 1-5.5 million euros) and Belgium (0.6 million - 4 million euros) over the five years. On the contrary, the sales figures for Bananas dropped in Sweden and Denmark from 1999 to 2004 showing sales from 1.8 to1 million euros and from 2 to 0.9 million euros respectively.
Overall, the highest sales of Banana during the year 1999 and 2004 was in Switzerland, whereas the highest sales of coffee during these years was in UK.
