The graphs compare the statistics of coffee and banana Fairtrade sales in 1999 and 2004 among five different European countries. Overall, it is obvious that Fairtrade-labeled coffee sales increased in all five countries while banana sales witnessed the rise in only three countries. In addition, in the UK and Switzerland, the sales of coffee and bananas both had significant growth.
It is clear in the tables that Fairtrade-labeled coffee sales climbed up in all five countries. The UK market witnessed the most radical change when the coffee sales rocketed to 20 million of euros in 2004, compared to only 1.9 million of euros in 1999. The rise in the Sweden market is the least significant when it only soared from 0.8 million of euros in 1999 to 1 million in 2004.
On the other hand, the banana sales among the five European countries share a more fluctuating trend. Three countries which are Switzerland, the UK and Belgium showed the increase in sales, with Switzerland having the most drastic surge from 15 million of euros in 1999 to 47 million in 2004. All the while, Sweden and Denmark had their numbers sunk with Denmark showing a more dramatical plunge from 2 millions of euros in 1999 to 0.8 million in 2004.
