The given tables illustrate the sales of fairtrade-labelled two products namely coffee and bananas in UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden in 1999 and 2004. Fairtrade is understood a category of products for which farmers from developing countries have been paid an officially agreed fair price.
It can be clearly seen that the highest sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee was uk while that of bananas belonged to switzerland
The sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee in switzerland was highest standing at 3 million in 1999 while the opposite was true for sweden at 0.8 million. The second, the third and the fourth position belonged to Belgium, Denmark and uk respectively. The next five years, the first rank was the sales of uk which was 20 times as much as that of Sweden.
In terms of the sales of fairtrade-labelled bananas, the highest of sales belonged to switzerland at 15 million in 1999 and 47 million in 2004. Besides, in 1999, belgium was lowest sales at 0.6 million. The following 5 years this position belonged to Denmark at 0.9 million. The sales of Denmark and Sweden witnessed a slight reduction between 1999 and 2004.
