• Task 1: The graph below shows the production of three forest industry products in a European country, namely timber, pulp, and paper from 1980 to 2000.
The graph gives information about the amount of pulp, timber and paper products in a European country between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, all categories showed an upward trend despite some fluctuations. Furthermore, the most remarkable increase was recorded in the number of paper products and pulp products showed the least.
It is clear that paper products started at 4 million tonnes, the smallest in 1980, and went up gradually to 9 million tonnes in 1995. After that, a slight fall of 1 million tonnes was recorded and the figure eventually rocketed to 12 million tonnes in 2000. With nearly 6 million tonnes, pulp products ranked first in 1980 and hitted the bottom in about over 2 million tonnes before a substantial escalation to 7 million tonnes in 1985. From 1985 to 2000, it rose slightly to about 10 million tonnes.
During the first 5 years period from 1980, a sharp growth occurred in timber products, which made it reach a peak at 10 million tonnes, doubled to the starting point. Then the figure fluctuated in the next 15 years and ranked third in 2000 with under 8 million tonnes.
