Task 1 - Test 2 - Cambridge IELTS 7

The given graph illustrates changes in the amount of fish and certain kinds of meat, namely chicken, beef and lamb consumed in a particular country in Europe from 1979 to 2004. The data is measured by grams per person per week.

Overall, the amount of fish and meat consumption fluctuated significantly during the given period. While there is a dramatic fall in fish, lamb, beef consumed, chicken consumption saw an upward trend in the last years of the period.

In 1979, the amount of fish consumed was the lowest, starting at just approximately 60 compared to the three others. The figures for fish leveled off and experienced a slight decrease at the end of the period. Whereas, beef consumption was the highest in 1979, which is around 220; this is followed by a drastic fluctuation between 1979 and 1989. Beef consumption then saw a sharp downfall and hit a trough at around 100 at the end of the given period.

Chicken and lamb consumption was nearly the same in the starting year of the period, about 150 in 1979. The amount of lamb consumed then dramatically dropped to just over 50 in 2004. In contrast, chicken consumption rocketed to around 250 in 2004, reached its peak in 2001.
