The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
The three pie charts illustrate the allocation of a certain UK school’s total spending in 1981, 1991, 2001.
In all three years, the greater expenditure was on staff salaries, although it experienced different trends. The expense on teachers’ salaries started with an increase in the first ten years. After peaking at 50% in 1991 from 40% in 1981, it was followed by a drop, before hitting 45% in 2001. The same situation happened to the cost of resources e.g. books, with increasing to 20% in 1991 from 15% in 1981, but falling greatly to 9% in 2001.
However, the amount of money on furniture and equipment began with an obvious decline from 1981 to 1991. After falling to 5% in 1991 from 15% in 1981, it was followed by a great rise, before reaching 23% in 2001.
The trend in other workers’ salaries was opposite to that in the expense on insurance during these thirty years. The figure for other workers’ salaries experienced a gradual decrease from 28% in 1981, through 22% in 1991, to 15% in 2001; by contrast, the data of insurance went up steadily, from 2% in 1981, through 3% in 1991, to 8% in 2001.
Overall, although the disbursement of the school was distinct in the three years, there was constantly the most money paid for the teachers and the least money spent on insurance.
