The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
The pie charts describe how a particular UK school spent money every year in the three years of 1981, 1991, and 2001. Overall, expenditure on teachers’ salaries, insurance, and furniture and equipment showed an upward trend during the twenty years, while that on other workers’ salaries and resources e.g. books a downward trend.
Starting with insurance, teachers’ salaries and furniture and equipment, there was an increase in the twenty years. A significant rise in the spending can be seen in teachers’ salaries from 45% in 1981 to 50% in 2001, with a peak at 50% in 1991. Meanwhile, the amount of money on furniture and equipment increased from 15% to 23%, with a great dip at 5% in 1991. The two decades also witnessed a growth in insurance from 2% to 8%.
Turning now to other workers’ salaries and resources e.g. books, however, there was a declining trend. The expense on other workers’ salaries experienced a decrease from 28% to 15%. The twenty years saw a drop in resources e.g. books from 15% to 9%, with a peak at 20% in 1991.
Throughout the twenty years, teachers’ payment always accounted for the largest proportion, while insurance occupied the smallest. The percentage of resources such as books was equal to that of furniture and equipment in 1981 but similar to that of other workers’ salaries in 1991.
