The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given pie charts illustrate shifts in money spending every year by a school in the UK in three different years when comparing five sectors, namely Insurance, Teacher’s salaries, Furniture and equipment, Resources and Other workers’ salaries.
It is clear that Teacher’s salaries accounted for the largest proportion of the school’s total spending. By contrast, the percentages of money invested in Insurance were the lowest figures in the charts.
In 1981, the figure for Teacher’s salaries was 40%, representing the major spending in this year. There was a slight increase in this sector in 1991, at 50%, before falling back to 45% in 2001. It is noticeable that spending on Insurance made up a little bit proportion in 1981 (2%), however, this figure rose dramatically to 8% in 2001.
Of the five different sectors, Other workers’ salaries constituted a quite stable percentage of total spending. The UK school was seemed to spend less money in Furniture and equipment from 1981 to 1991, but there was a significant increase in this budget from 1991 to 2001, at 5% and 23% respectively.
