Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject To what extent do you agree or disagree

Admitting the same number of students of different gender in each subject is a great attempt towards equality. However, I think such an initiative will push the standard below and it is not a practical approach.
Firstly, if universities accept pupils according to their sex and based on merits, this might lead to a mismatch between selection and incompatibilities. Students with certain qualities perform well in specific subjects and by denying this we will end up with wrong selections that will effect both the system and the students in the long run. In the future-- entering the practical world-- the students might lose interest in their fields because from the beginning these were wrong paths for them. On the other hand, these fields will run into a crisis because of failing in making experts. For example: Students for whom math was not the strongest point might find it difficult to thrive in the field of Physics. In these case, both the field and the student will suffer.
Secondly, certain subjects are popular with particular gender and it shapes the reality. It is seen that certain fields are populated with particular gender where the sex of minority might find the working environment unfriendly and unwelcoming. Eventually, which might lead them to quit their jobs. For instance, newly trained male nurses may find the working place and the job inappropriate because of the very nature of the profession and the female dominance.
In contrast, if universities focus towards gender based selection, it will possibly bring some balance in the academia. However, in the long run this balance probably will not sustain because we are compromising quality over priority.
Overall, I think it is not a practical approach for universities to accept students of opposite sex equally in all subjects to address the gender issue.
