Water used for different purposes in six areas
The pie charts compare the percentage of water used for three main purposes (industrial , agricultural and domestic use) in six different areas of the world.
Overall, the most striking fact to emerge from the charts is four countries especially Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia and South America uses more than 70% of water for agricultural use. Whereas, Europe and North America uses almost 50% of water for industrial purposes.
According to the pie charts Central Asia, Africa and South East Asia use water maximum for agricultural use with percentages of 88%, 84% and 81% respectively compared to South america at 71%. The percentage of water used for agricultural purpose by North America and Europe is 39% and 32% correspondingly.
In terms of industrial use of water, Europe and North America shares about 50 percentage of total while South America and South East Asia contributes almost 10%. Africa and Central Asia uses as less as 7% and 5% accordingly.
Finally, in the category of water use for domestic purpose, South America,Europe and North America utilise around 15% while other countries use less than 10%.
