The maps below show the development of a small fishing village and its surrounding area into a large European tourist resort.

The diagram illustrates the significant changes that transformed a small fishing village into a European tourist resort over a gap of thirty years, from 1974 to 2004.
In 1974, the fishing village was comprised of only a handful of residents, merely 12000. The town was formed nearly the harbour as most citizen earned their livelihood from the sea. They used to dock their boats on the sea beach. The nearest village was separated by a forest area who were depended on the olive plantation. Another community of shepards could be found near the hills who used to own sheep and goats. The uphills were covered with green trees.
Although the original fishing village still persisted in 2004, the changes in the surrounding was vast. The population had increased to a 80000.The length of sea beached also increased over the years and was regularly visited by the tourists. The lands next to the beach including the woodland was used to construct hotels with 50000 beds to accommodate upcoming guests. Behind the hotels, where the farming village used to be, a golf course was built. Next to it, a farmland can be found where a olives used to grow. This particular farmland was used to grow fruits and vegetables that were consumed by the hotels. Behind these to particular spots, a small village was present which hosted the tourists shops. Finally a modern constructed road can be found that lead to the nearest town from the beach.
