The pie charts below show the average household expenditures in a country in 1950 and 2010.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two pie charts compare the distribution of expenses that were paid by a typical family in a nation in the year 1950 and 2010.
As shown in the information registered in 1950, housing was in the dominant position of average household spending, accounting for over two-third. Second was the spending of food, which comprised over one-tenth of the overall expenses, followed by education at 6.6%. By contrast, citizens spent less than 4% for the remaining aspects, including health care, transportation and others.
In a stark contrast, food, however, had become the most enormous proportion at 34% in the overall household spending in 2010. While a significant drop in housing was witnessed, the cost labelling as "other" surged, resulting in a practically identical percentage of 20%. Likewise, citizen had to encounter a four-times growth in transportation fee in 2010.
Overall, the household expenditure was dominated by housing in 1950 , whereas housing, food and transportation comprised the major part in 2010.
