Given are two figures regarding the foreign languages that British students of a university were able to speak by 2000 and 2010.
It is clear from the pie charts that with 30% and 35% of the Brit students speaking Spanish by 2000 and 2010 respectively, the named language was the most popular second language. By 2000 one of every five students was able to talk only his or her first language, in contrast, the rate halved a decade later. Being multilingual with two foreign languages increased and reached 15%, by a fifty percent rise during ten years.
French is the sole language of figures that became less popular. The rate of Brit students who talk french was 15% firstly, although it declined significantly and reached 10% by 2010. Remaining constant, one out of ten British students could speak German during the period in question. Though other languages have not underlined the figures,15% of students were bilingual with them in 2000. The rate was a fifth in 2010.
