In France, by contrast, coal and natural gas accounted for half of electricity in 1980. 15 units of electricity production in France had nuclear power, while Australia had no nuclear power.
In 2000, Australia and France respectively, produced 170 units and 180 units of electricity. The demand for coal in electricity production in Australia has been exaggerated. Oil and natural gas were very minimally used for electricity production. Similarly in France in 2000, when nuclear power in electricity production increased significantly.
