Writing task 1
You recently read an article in a newspaper about your childhood friend with whom you have lost contact for a long time. Write a letter to the editor. In your letter:
• Say which edition and when did the article appear
• Explain why you lost contact with your friend
• Say how you want them to help you to get back in touch

Dear sir or madam,

I, Neelam Macwan, am writing this letter for asking a help in a personal matter. I have read an article about a social worker named Mary Smith in the extra addition of your newspaper 'New York Times' dated 05/03/2019. Mary is my childhood friend with whom I had lost contact several years ago.

Mary and I were living in the same neighborhood and we went to same school, we were really close friends and spent much time together after school hours. However, we had to depart after high school because of her family moved out of the town due to unemployment. We were in the touch by telephone for a while after that but gradually lost the contact as platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp were not available. This led to total disconnection between us.

So I would like to request if you can give Mary's contact number or address because she is not on Facebook. Moreover, please approach her and let her know that I am looking forward to meeting her. I am sure this is not a lot to ask. I am awaiting for your positive response.

Best regards,
Neelam Macwan
