Essay topics:

You have organised to go on holiday with your friend. However, you must change your plans.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

- Tell them how much you are looking forward to the holiday

- Explain why you must change your plans

- Suggest alternative arrangements

Dear Judy,

Hope you are doing well these days. I am writing to talk about the upcoming holiday which we planned to spend with you and Tom in Canada next week.

I am really looking forward this skiing trip with you, and already got the permission from my boss to take one week off. I also bought the tools and clothes which are needed for skiing. Besides, I prepared some gifts for you two. But unfortunately, a colleague of mine broke his leg yesterday, and I have to go for a ten-days business trip instead of him next week, so I think I can’t make it for the vacation.

As I have a 2-week vacation next month, I suggest that we can change our plan to the end of December. We can enjoy skiing for one more week, and we can also celebrate new year together! I hope your schedule will be free at that time.

I will catch up with you again soon.

All the best,

Ingrid
