However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it
very difficult to work.
Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In your letter
• describe the situation (your current accommodation)
• explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
• say what kind of accommodation you would prefer
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am an international student of computer science living in the campus dormitory sharing a room with another student. However, I am experiencing some difficulties with the cooling equipment and my roommate. Because of these issues, I would like to ask whether I could change my room.
Currently, I am a resident of Edison dormitory which its rooms’ conditions are almost the same. My place is a 35 square feet room located at second floor equipped with a central air conditioner. Moreover, I have a roommate who is a second-year student of biology. Unfortunately, there are some problems needing to be addressed.
My roommate’s behavior is utterly annoying. It makes it almost impossible for me to study. He always used to walk and read out loud which is too disturbing for me to concentrate. In addition, he used to hold parties in our room without considering my study plan. Another main problem that I am dealing with is the functionality of air conditioner. It is out of work almost whenever we need it. In hot seasons, the cooler is often malfunctioning, consequently the room temperature becomes unbearable especially when both of us are present in the room. Inevitably, I am considering switching my room.
I would like to enquire about moving to another place. I tend to study in quiet and cold environments. So, I prefer going to a building which is equipped with a modern working air conditioning facility. And also, I would rather have a considerate roommate who is studying the same major as mine.
As my career depends on this matter, I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully,
