Films are less important than other forms of art like literature and painting? To what extent do you agree/disagree?
Some people believe that literature and drawings are more valuable forms of art than movies. I completely disagree with this argument as films have the same artistic value as any other art form.
To begin with, it is true that movies have a less long history than the other two. While literature and paintings are deeply rooted in the culture since various eras, motion pictures only well-introduced to the audience through the development of multimedia and technology. For example, literature and paintings of each century give us an accurate description of life in those times. The earliest evidence of the act of painting has been discovered in northern Australia which is estimated to be 60,000 years old. On the other hand, the first motion pictures were shown after the invention of motion picture cameras by the end of the 1880s.
However, it is unequal to measure the historic and aesthetic value of an art form by the number of years it has existed. Firstly, movies to the whole society than the others. By giving the stimulating vision through vivid moving images, the majority of the audience can be touched a certain thought or memory. In addition, movies are a form of communication, and thanks to that people can listen to stories of any societies, both in the present and past. Another advantage that films reach greater viewers than books or other art forms. For example, thanks to the evolution of technology, people can easily access to watch movies by using any kinds of smart devices on any platform. Furthermore, the number of digital cinema screens worldwide amounted to over 1898 thousand in 2019 which was a significant increase from the 127,46 thousand recorded five years ago. This is evidence of the preference of people for movies.
In conclusion, I believe that films deserve the same recognition as any kind of art form. One can not judge the value of movies only from the number of years of history they have.
