It is becoming increasingly popular to have a year off between finishing school and going to university. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

Recent years, students prefer to have a gap year between graduating the school and enrolling the university. While, It has beneficial that students can improve their abilities and prepare themselves to new chapter of their life. Sometimes having a year off could impact negatively to their purpose to get high education.

The obvious argument in its favor is that pupils likely to have a year break before their university begin. This is helping student to acquire more experiences and facilitate their enrolling process. Because they have enough time to enrich their background and CV. Those can support that student to study in high ranked university. Thus, that student may find scholarship or financial aid.

There are, however, some disadvantages. Right after finishing high school students are still adolescents. It means they do not have plenty knowledge about life and so on. It may affect that child’s prospective about life wrongly. My friend, for example, she had year off to prepare to study abroad then she stayed at home and did not study until now. Because she worked in place that sells flowers and that job has enough salary to live. Then she decided to stay at home and continue to work. Taking a year break can change everything positively and negatively.

To sum up, students increasingly taking a year off after they filled their high school. It is the most alterable period of students. Because having a year off could turns that student upside down in a good and bad ways. It gives to students that opportunity to decide their rest of the life.
