PEOPLE THINK THAT SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES HAVE A HUGE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON BOTH
INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETY. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?
Some people believe that the rate of social media usage is increasing nowadays, and that social platforms have a significant negative impact on individuals and communities. I agree with this opinion.
An increasing number of people, especially teenagers, are addicted to social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter. They spend most of their time scrolling through the internet, and this has a direct effect on their real-life relationships. Some young people feel isolated from their families because they prefer sharing their interests through forums or video games. According to an interview conducted by BBC, 20% of daily internet users find it difficult to integrate into society, and this figure is rising each year.
Moreover, social networking has a significant negative impact on the community. If people choose to spend their time on social media instead of dating and hanging out with their friends, they may become distant from one another, leading to a community devoid of emotion. Furthermore, many influencers are subjected to verbal abuse on the internet, not because of anything they have done wrong, but merely because of their appearance. This leads to a toxic community and may result in people from other countries having a negative view of them.
In conclusion, it seems to me that the use of social media has many negative effects on individuals and communities.
