Some people believe that governments should pay full course fees for students who wants to study in universities
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
In this contemporary epoch, it is apparent that tuition fees required to enroll in colleges or universities are necessary for students all over the world. This culminates in a common occurrence that governments in some developed and developing countries provide funding for their education. While I agree that this engenders some drawbacks to some extent, I would argue that governmental actions of fully covering these expenses are beneficial.
The predominant problem is derived from the fact that offering governmantal scholarships poses grave ramifications to students’ behavior. Given that there is no concern about the universities’ fees, they are likely to lose their discipline and dilligence, bringing about neglectful attitudes towards the norm that they ought to make their best of learning, thus adversely affecting study performances. Consequently, the money is now considered to be such a substantial loss, in the meantime the governments are to blame for making cutbacks on national budget which can instead be allocated to other aspects.
However, I strongly opine that governments’ financial assistance is a prerequisite. The first and perhaps the most persuasive reason for this is that all students, for the aid of free tuition, can have equal opportunities to pursue their academic path. By this I mean, regardless of learners’ families monetary background, they are utterly facilitated to place a premium on a non-disruptive educational pursuit without any hardship. As a result, those desperate to make ends meet will not only be enabled to prioritize on acquiring knowledge wholeheartedly, but also pave the way for fundamental innovations to be fostered. In addition, paying fees for graduates will enrich professional labourers for the countries in the future. In other words, that the authorities wholly sponsor students’ educational pursuit will generate a potential workforce in which people have high qualifications as well as wealth of intellectual and practical experience. Hence, providing further education is unquestionably one of the long-term measures taken to attain more experienced workers, with a view to tackling countries’ current issues related to technology, economy and public health.
In conclusion, from the aforementioned points, it is my reaffirmation that governments’ attempt to pay fees for university and college students is a conducive action. It is advisable that universities and governments should adopt partly-paid policies and stricter criteria to improve the quality of learning.
