Agree or disagree, the best way for parents to make the children learn about responsibility is to have children care for an animal?
Nowadays, people tend to have different points of view on the question that how to foster children’s responsibility. The most often heard contention about this topic is that parents should have children care for an animal. However, I find this view overly generalized. In fact, this issue can be analyzed from two perspectives.
Indisputably, there is no justification for us to ignore the fact that caring an animal will help children learn about responsibility, especially when it comes to preschool kids. It is widely accepted that preschool kids have nothing to worry about, all they have to do is explore the world. Thus, for them, they have full time to take care of a pet which is the best way to foster their responsibility. I can think of no better illustration than the example of my sister Lucy, who is 6 years old. Last year, her parents brought her a very cute dog. Lucy had to learn how to feed it, playing with it, and going for a walk with it. Lucy used to be a kid who would not do anything by herself, however, when she had the dog, she learned how to took care of it. As a result, she now can take care of the dog all by herself, what’s more, she learns a lot of things. Had Lucy not took care of the dog, she would not have learned how to be responsible. Therefore, recalling the experience of Lucy, taking care of an animal is the best way to foster preschool children’s responsibility.
However compelling the argument above is, it cannot support us arrive at the verdict because it only focus on the young children. In order to make a dependable conclusion, we must consider other situations in which it is useless for middle school children. It is universally believed that the middle school kids are very busy with their study. In this case, even if they have to take care of an animal, it will end up be their parents’ duty, because they are busy with the study, and parents should ask them to do some house chores which is the better way to cultivate their responsibility. My experience is the best example to prove my point of view. When I was 12, I was routinely sprinted through jam-packed schedules, attending classed, doing homework, preparing for exams, so I did not have time to look after an animal. However, my parents asked me to clean my room and wash the dishes everyday no matter how busy I was. In this way, I realized that it was my duty to keep my room clean and contribute to the family. It is doing house chores that enables me to be responsible instead of raising a pet. Thus, I am convinced that for middle school kids the best way to make the them learn about responsibility is to doing house chores.
To sum up, from what has been discussed above, we can easily draw a conclusion that it is irrational to take it for granted that the best way for parents to make the children learn about responsibility is to have children care for an animal. Therefore, only in case-by-case way can we fully explore this issue’s complexity.
