Are dinosaurs considered endotherm ?
The author states the evidence that dinosaurs were endotherms. As opposed to, the lecturer who counters-argues that viewpoint trying to prove that these three evidence do not seem convincing.
First and foremost, the writer mentions that the fossils of dinosaurs are found in polar regions. This, means that only the animals that have been endotherm could survive in those reasons. On the contrary, the professor cannot disagree more, reasoning that this evidence do not sure us that these animals during the cold weather could have migrated. Apart from that, those regions were warmer than are today. Therefore, they may have not be endotherms.
The second argument the author gives is that the position of the leg determines that dinosaurs could have been endotherms like other animals with the same physical characteristic. However, the lecturer cannot be more outraged, explaining that the position of the leg under the body was to support the body weight, which was hug one. This is one of the reasons that could strongly support that dinosaurs were not the same as other endotherms.
Lastly, on one hand, the passage points out that the connection between endothermy and bone structure is an considerable evidence. Actually, these bone structure is called Haversian canals, and we can see exact the same structure in animals that are already endotherm. Nevertheless, the professor declares that this type of the bone structure can grow slowly or rapidly. Therefore, these changes are clear evidences that dinosaurs were not endotherms.
Although, the text suggests these three evidence in supporting the idea that dinosaurs are endotherm, the lecturer believes that none of them are persuasive.
