Essay topics:

Endotherms are animals such as modern birds and mammals that keep their body temperatures constant. For instance, humans are endotherms and maintain an internal temperature of 37°C, no matter whether the environment is warm or cold. Because dinosaurs were reptiles, and modern reptiles are not endotherms, it was long assumed that dinosaurs were not endotherms. However, dinosaurs differ in many ways from modem reptiles, and there is now considerable evidence that dinosaurs were, in fact, endotherms. Polar dinosaurs.

One reason for believing that dinosaurs were endotherms is that dinosaur fossils have been discovered in Polar Regions. Only animals that can maintain a temperature well above that of the surrounding environment could be active in such cold climates. Leg position and movement.

There is a connection between endothermy and the position and movement of the legs. The physiology of endothermy allows sustained physical activity, such as running. But running is efficient only if an animal's legs are positioned underneath its body, not at the body's side, as they are for crocodiles and many lizards. The legs of all modern endotherms are underneath the body, and so were the legs of dinosaurs. This strongly suggests that dinosaurs were endotherms.

Haversian canals

There is also a connection between endothermy and bone structure. The bones of endotherms usually include structures called Haversian canals. These canals house nerves and blood vessels that allow the living animal to grow quickly, and rapid body growth is in fact a characteristic of endothermy. The presence of Haversian canals in bone is a strong indicator that the animal is an endotherm, and fossilized bones of dinosaurs are usually dense with Haversian canals.

Dinasours true nature is undaoubtedly one of the most curious thing amongst scientis. As the text saied, previusely dinosaurs had been regarded as reptiles. But now the text put into evidence that dinasaurs can be “endotherms”. That means they can maintain their body’s tempreture wether in cold or warm condtion. on the other hand, The lecturer rejects this opinion.
firstly, the reading passage speaks of the envidence provided by examining the dinasaurs fossils that have been found in polar regions. The text belives that only the animal that can tolerate such an environment is an endotherm. On the contrary the lectures rejects this reason by mentioning that the environment at that period of time was much more warmer than today and also reptiles like dinasours have the opportunity to migarate or hybernated like other reptiles.
Furthermore, the auther derives from the position of legs in dinasuars (under thier bodies) - that is crucial for such activities like running in endotherms- put them aside from reptiles with side legs. But the lectures cast doubts on this fact by speksing of the reason that, this postion is not neccasary for activities like running. The lecturer suggest that having the legs under the body make dinsaurs the ability ro tolerate more weight and conseqensly make them larger than other animals and this point can help them to survive against other animals.
Finally, the reading suggest that the bone structure of endotherms can help them to grow quickly and this phenonemon can also help dinasaurs to growh at a higher rate as an endotherm. The lecturer simply reject this fact by mentioning that the dinsaurs also have another bone structure named “growth rings” that are caused by the fluctuation in growth rates. This means that dinasaurs have the ability to wether grow slowly or rapidly due to diffrent living condtions.
