hails
Both the reading and listening discuss whether the cloud seeding will be beneficial for the US farmer to get rid of hail that damage a lot of crops. The former argues that the cloud seeding may have great impact on reducing the amount of hail but the latter contradicts each of the points made by the reading.
First of all, the reading contends that, some laboratory experiments confirm that the silver iodide help the cloud to reduce the hail in the precipitation and allow the cloud to precipitate only the snow and the rain. In contrast, the lecturer argues that although it reduce the hail formation it also block all kinds of precipitation. Moreover, it can creat further problem by creating the drough problem to the farmer by reducing the amount of rain and snow that will damage more due to the lack of water.
Secondly, some asian coutries sucessfully imply cloud seeding to control precipitation in cities and hope that this will also be applicable to US farmers. However, the professor rebuts that, this experiments are done in the urban and cities where the environmental polutions are high and the pollutant particle help the clound formation nucli that help the rain system. Also added that, this will not applicable to the US farmer because the fram lands are not have the pollutant particle to have cloud formation nuclei.
Finally, the text claims that, some local studies found that cloud seeding areas are less hail damaged areas compare to the other areas and predicts that it will applicable to the all areas damaged by hail. On the other hand, the listening counters that, the hails are not only damage the local areas but also the nearby areas are also damage haighly by the hail. He further argues that, the result is not artificially ycontrolable since it is a natural reason since the pattern damage several similar natarul areas damage by the hails.
