Malaria parasite essay
The lecture and the reading passage tell about strategies to eradicate parasite causing malaria. The author belives that following three strategy mentioned in writting will eradicate disease. However, the speaker in the reading disagree with these startegies and he claims that these startegy will not going to helpful.
Firstly, the passage states that if we are able to determine exact strain of parasite causing malaria we can treat it using prescribed medicine. However, the professor points out that, no medicine can cure malaria at all. Generally used medicines like chloro and ethro are no longer efficient for the treatment of malaria patient. Because, most of the malaria strains developed resistance to these medicine so these medicine usage will be of no use.
Secondly, the author mentions that killing mosquitos by spraiying chemical where they stay and relesing mosquito eating fish like guppies will decline their population. Again, the lecturer holds the flaws in this argument, he explains that the chemical we are going to use for sprying and larvae killing fish will not reach to all locations wherever we required. Additionally, he stated that adult mosquitos usually fly at high speed so it is not helpful to spray chemical.
The another reason the author feels that sterile insect technique will not develop eggs of mosquitos and that eventually reduce their population. The teacher rebuts this argument and states that, sterile mosqutoies are not much attracted to female so their reproduction will not occur. However, other not sterile male will mate and increase population.
To sum up, both author and speaker hold conflicting views.
