medical record
According to the reading, nowadays, the number of many physicians who are using electronic medical records has been increasing. The author in the reading said that the new method to record medical information has several advantages. However, the professor in the lecture gives several reasons as a rebuttal of the author's argument.
First of all, the author in the reading insists that utilizing novel medical records is conducive to diminish costs by economizing storing and transferring the information. The reading said that the electronic method does not take up any areas and doctors can easily approach the information regardless of their locations and times. However, the professor in the lecture said that even though having electronic devices, most doctors record their patients' medical information by their hands. They also see their medical information from their written things. This casts doubt on the reading passage's claim that using electronic records aids people to decrease costs owing to the portability of information by the way and its freedom from restriction of space.
Second, the author in the reading contends that doctors can get rid of their errors by electronic mechanics. The reading said that since electronic records have standardizations of forms and are helped by computers, people can remove the possibilities of human error. However, the professor in the lecture said that people still use traditional methods although having electronic devices. After writing, staffs always check and revise their records. This counters the reading passage's claim that electronic devices can help doctors to abate human error on account of its standard form and computers' assistance.
Lastly, the author in the reading argues that doctors can gain more medical information thanks to the electronic methods. The reading said that on the internet, databases store a lot of data, but it is impossible for people to get thousands of people records by paper research. However, the professor in the lecture said that in the U.S., there is a privacy law that inhibits doctors to access patients' information. although they can sometimes be permitted, it is not granted for them to see the information.
This refutes the reading passage's claim that doctors can acquire numerous medical research information by electronic records since there are many data in databases.
