model of a paiting
In this set of materials, the reading and listening both discuss the well known masterpiece " Girl with a pearl earring" by Johannes Vermeer. The article strongly postulates the speculations for the model of the famous painting, and endorses three theories to express th model's idenitification. However, the lecture mentions that theories depicted in the reading are unconvincing and have certain drawbacks and, gainsays each of them.
The first and foremost, the writer begins by assering that First probable figure would be Vermeer's oldest daughter due to the dact that Vermeer is greatly ispired by the daily life scenario. So he would had choosen her daughter as a model for painting. On the other hand, the lecturer dissmisses this point by insisting that portrait could not be his daughter, it could be anyother person around depending on possibilty that he was influenced with the mundane life scenes. Moreover, for Vermeer, subject had mattered the most and was not confined to particular figure. He examplifies that 40 other portrays depicted the portrays of females , anyone could be his daughter from them.
Furthermore, The lecturer posits that model for the GIrl with a pearl could not be Van Ruijven"daughter. Judging from the conservative features of the portrait. To be more specific, Vermeer had good relations with the Ruijeven and in the past portraits were not about likeness of figure, but it depicted the images of prides and social class. If Vermeer portraid his Patron"s daughter he would have Showed upscale classrather than unconventional clothing. These claims clealy refutes the writer implication that model could be Daughter his patron, of Ruijven because he was in close proximity and her daughter got the painting as her wedding gift.
Ultimately, the writer wraps up the arguments by contending that key characteristicts such as exxaggeration, of famous portray matched with the Tronie, a hit genre of 1700.Not surprisingly, the lecturer takes an issue with that by contending that thouigh exaggeration expression were dominated in Tronie portarys. But vermeer never painted others portrait unless he observed them personally. Moreover he had not drawed imaginary figures and objects.
