The article presents three arguments why the structures found inside fossilized trees, which is 200 million years old, were not created by bees. However, all of them are questioned in the lecture.

For starters, while the lecturer concedes that no bee fossil of 200 million years old was found, she believes that the reason is because bees then could hardly be fossilized. Because bees could only be fossilized within sticky liquid produced by certain kinds of tree species, which were quite rare back then.

Second, she does accept that modern bees survive on flowering plants, but she does not believe that this had to apply to 200 million years ago. She points out that it might be possible for bees to feed on other kinds of plants, and that it was only after flowering plants evolved that bees began to adapt to a different way of survival.

Finally, although she admits that no cap of a spiral pattern was found in the structures, she says there is chemical evidence that supports the theory. chemical study shows the type of water-proof material used in modern bee nests could also be found in those structures.
