Question :Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they respond to the specific concerns presented in the reading passage
Based on the reading passage, there is a phenomenal called Transient lunar phenomena (TLP) which is shaft like of flash light that comes from the moon's surface. Therefore, keeping this in perspective, the author suggests three assumptions. However, the professor in the lecture cast-doubt on these reasons an, suggesting three points concerning why they seem unconvincing.
The first point mentioned in the reading is, TLP is only random observational errors that caused by observers who use telescope. This point is challenged in the lecture as if it was a pretty random report it must happen on many random palaces. The reading does not take into consideration that these phenomena just take places on two specific area on the Moon. Therefore, this whole point regarding random mistake in observation is refitted in the lecture.
Although it was suggested in the reading that TLP is caused by meteors striking the Moon. this point is rebutted by the lecturer as, the light arising from meteor impacts usually last just one second. Another point mentioned to question the validity of this claim is, the light of TLP las about 20 minutes and light flashes duration a meteor impact never reported. Hence, the fact that is generated from meteors cannot makes sense.
The author in the reading passage asserts that TLP are the result of lunar rocks emitting their own light by a process called thermoluminescence. This point is, further, come into question in the lecture by professor on the grands that this light is weaker than someone can see them. In fact, the reading fails to consider the fact that this lights would not be able to see it is like the candle and spotlight. Thereby, the validity of this claim in the reading is also on question.
