First, the author mentions, one way to protect Torreya from extinict is by reestablish it the the same location in specific microclimate which is small area inside differ from the region which this area is a part, this climate wetter and cooler than surrounding region in Florida. This point challenged by lecturer. She says, the microclmate area has same dry and hot climate like the surrounding area, especialy the recent evidance show increase in the temprecture in these years, therefore reestablishing is not perfect solution.
Second, the writer stats, relocation of Torreya to different area, in a process known assisted migration to more suitible region. The professor rebutted this argument. She elaborates, the inforced migration to another environment lead to distinict of another tyoe of plants, so by time declination of Torreya tree will increase because it can not withstand this migration.
Finally, the author suggests to preserve Torreya in research center, He illustrate, seeds and saplings can be taken from the wild and kept in monitored environment. The professor in the other hand stats, that is not good solution, because, the trees need large area to grow and resist disease.
