Essay topics:

solution for the problem of declining frogs population

The reading and listening have a debate on the problem of declining in number of frogs. The reading puts forward three solutions to solve this problem, which are rebutted by the following lecture.

The first solution according to the reading is to enforce law that prevent farmers near the endangered frogs' habitates (habitats) from utilizing the harmful pesticides. However, the reading disputes this statement because regulation of pesticides using is not economically pratical (practical) or fair. Farmers count on the pesticides to keep competitive against others. So, the restriction of pesticides using will give rise to losing crops and a lower yield for the framers near the sensitive frog population.

The second solution is to give antifungal medication to the frogs, thereby protecting the frogs from fatal fungus infection. Conversely, the professor challenges this idea by saying that this treatment is complicated and expensive. Frogs need to take the treatment by individuals and the treatment also unable to pass on frogs' offsprings. Therefore, it can not put on action in a large scale, and many frogs are still under the threat of fungus infection.

The third solution is to reduce the excessive water use and development. On the contrary, the lecture contradicts this opinion by stating that the main thread of forgs natural habitates is the global warming not the water development.
