The article discusses that using electronical databases in the medical science has several advantages over traditional paper-based record keeping and should be several efforts to convince the doctors to adopt this method instead of former approach that is also using among doctors. The passage also provides three reasons and explanations to confirm its own claim. On the other hand, the professor on the lecture supports the opposite viewpoint and argument. She contradicts each of the three justifications presented on the article completely one by one to buttress her own debate.
First reason presented on the second paragraph of the article states that using electronical procedure can help to reduce the cost by saving money. Paper records require a great amount of money for process of their storage. The professor refutes the statement by indicating that even doctors who utilize electronical method are coerced to use paper records as their own backup. This method also consumes the same amount of money to store the paper records.
Second explanation displayed on the next piece of the passage posits that electronical medical records are vital for reducing of possibility of medical errors. Electronical processes are connected by statndardization of forms. The professore also invalidates this position by announcing that doctors should first examine the patients by pen and papers and then convert the informations on paper into electronical forms that this process can also increase errors.
Final justification represented on the last and forth section of the article areues that electronical medical records can help to medical research, by them it would be easier to extract the needed information from medical databases. The professor, in addition, discredits this argument by declaring that obtaining the informations related to patients is a very difficult process. All data associated to patients are under privacy laws that are very strict and access to this kind of informations needs the permission of the patients.
