Essay topics:

Your former homestay family is coming to see you in your home country and stay from January 31st to February 10th.
Write them a letter. In your letter:
• Make plans to meet them at a convenient location
• Specify a time and date
• Suggest some activities you may all participate in during their visit

The author and lecturer are both about torreya tree in florida. The author provides three ways to save them, but the professor state that these options are unlikely to be satisfactory solutions.

First the author declare to plant torreya in coolest dampest area of florida named microclimate. The lectures refutes this solution by indicating that this area is affected largely by changes of its environment. Global warning and wetlands of florida can influence the condition of microclimate that would be not good for planting torreya.

In addition the author posits that relocating Torreay to an entirely different location can save them from extinction. The professor invalidates this position by declaring that relocating plants by humans could have unwanted consequences for other plants and bio. he provides an example of black trees that were moved in the north and spread quickly. but they kill off other plants. this problems direct relocating of plants to unpredictable outcomes.

Furthermore, the author state that preserving torreya in research centers as closely monitored centers can protect them. The lecturer also contradicts this solution by announcing that populations of plants could not resist diseases. he add that two conditions are essential for combating diseases by plants: being in large quantity and being genetically diverse. research centers don’t have this capacity to hold the conditions.
