Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how the proposal discussed in the lecture would solve the specific challenges described in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture speak about the possibility of living on Venus, which is one of the planets that is different from the Earth. The reading shows that living on Venus is impossible for three main reasons. The lecture, however, speaks that living on Venus can be possible to some extent by some refinements of these problems. The following both of them are elaborated.
First, the reading claims that because of higher atmospheric pressure at Venus in comparison with the Earth' atmosphere, anything which is landed on Venus will be crushed. On the other hand, the lecture argues that this problem can be solved by establishing a station above the surface of Venus. Moreover, it alludes that pressure for 50 kilometers is equal to the normal pressure on the Earth.
Secondly, the reading claims that there are no reservoirs of water on the surface of Venus, and its atmosphere is made up of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid, which means there is no oxygen there. However, the lecture alleges that these chemical compounds can be used to make water and therefore there is no need to import water there.
Third, the reading says that because of thick clouds, which covers Venus's atmosphere, sunlight cannot be reached to the Venus. In addition, there are dens layers of carbon dioxide under these thick clouds, which blocks the sunlight. The lecture, though, discusses that there are some clouds over Venus but they are not thick. Furthermore, this reflected sunlight tend to be used to produce electricity in an efficient manner. Therefore, by such a useful way, solar electricity can be achievable for human beings.
All in all, the reading claims that human beings' living on the Venus is not possible, whereas the lecture refuses it and shows that there are some practical solutions for those problems which can bring life on the venus for individuals.
